FISHING DERBY - Check back in 2012!
Originally conceived by the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln, the Lincoln Fish n’ Kids Fishing Derby is a cooperative effort of the Lincoln Kiwanis, Lincoln Police Activities League (PAL), Lincoln Hills Fishing Group (LHFG), and Big M Fishery organizations. The purpose of this event is to provide an annual community service effort that presents an opportunity for the youth of Lincoln to experience a fun outdoor adventure. This event enables children to enjoy fishing together in a safe environment as they learn the catch-and-release fishing concept.

SMILES FOR KIDS
In 2009, we screened the 1st and 3rd graders at the seven WPUSD elementary schools (First St., Creekside Oaks, 12 Bridges, Lincoln Crossing, Carlin C. Coppin, Fosket Ranch, and Sheridan). We screened 659 kids. Thirty-nine had an urgent dental need.  Another 120 also were in need of dental treatment. We passed our toothbrushes, floss, and toothpaste to most of the children. At this point the district nurses alert the parents. If there are children that do not have access to care, there is coordination with the Sacramento District Dental Society to get them treated. -- Paul Denzler, DDS
